Always on the sunny side of the street – Bandidos City Run 2011 in Regensburg
The best way to promote Bandidos-Nation is realizing public red-and-gold events with an impressing character. So after the good experiences concerning our City-Run of the last year it literally obtruded by itself to organize a City-Run every bit as on a comparable basis once more. But truly once the decision was taken it rather was a question how to improve or even optimize our run planned this year. Faster, higher, further – from the beginning of the preparations it was to put the pedal to the metal. Because of the fact, that during the first weeks of the beginning of the motorcycle-season always are a lot of overlapping events, we faced the challenge to be more attractive than other simultaneous arrangements. The first important step was to start the advertising at an early stage, for what reason we determined the date already more than half a year previously. Beside printing posters and flyers we also drew attention to our City-Run by a monthly use of e-mails to a large-scale mailing list of other clubs in our region in the last three months. But predominantly we focused on visiting the parties of the local clubs in order to invite them personally and distribute our flyers. By promoting our City-Run we also always mentioned to keep in mind the charity-intention of the Run. The money that is taken by the attendance fee is fully donated to a preschool in the city district where our clubhouse is. However it is not enough to inform potentially interested people about ones purpose to arrange a City-Run. Even as important are the preparations that are required by the authorities, like officially notifications and licences. On this score it was Bandido Günter1%er´s turn to do a burn-out-job on communicating with the authorities. Every aspect and every conceivable detail was discussed explicitly until we got it sanctioned. But according to the slogan “You can get it, if you really want”, we finally succeeded and everything was singed, sealed and delivered. Not least, because of the recent trimmings our Brothers in the north had been put up, we attached great importance to this magisterially requirements. After at long last it was taken care of everything, we could fully concentrate on the party-preparations at the clubhouse. Experienced by multiple parties within a short-term period all equipment, staff, drink and food was organized and the day of the “show-down” could come closer.
To guarantee a trouble-free procedure the chapter assembled at Friday afternoon at the clubhouse and stayed there for the whole weekend. Knowing this some Brothers of other chapters also arrived and this evening already developed to a kind of preheating-party. Yet at this point no longer it could be ignored the special mood driven by the thrill of anticipation for the attraction following the next day. Early in the morning of the long-desired 07th of May all the Prospects and Supporters stood by at the clubhouse available for their jobs they had been determined by the police. For the simple reason of a simultaneous soccer-game this day in Regensburg the police forces had been estimated barely adequate by the authorities, which is why nearly about forty persons had to help regulating along the route instead of driving themselves. About noon except a few at the clubhouse assigned the chapter took position at the meeting-point for the Run, where also was put up possibilities to acquire merchandise, especially our City-Run-shirt and a little catering. Step by step arrived full of expectation the participants with their bikes at the meeting-point and crowded the area. Then time was come as it´s said: “Let´s get ready to rumble!” On the tick at 2.00 o’clock p.m. no less than about 300 bikes set in motion for the second Bandidos-City-Run in Regensburg. From the beginning on our Run excited public curiosity, but immediately after the start of the roaring motorcycles at the sidewalks of the streets along the route aroused keen interest regardless whether young or old or what gender whichever. Under the leadership of the brightest sunshine and the colours of the red-and-gold-family travelled the convoy a route of a bit more than 20 km in and around the town without any incident. So after like an hour the noticeably pleased participants could assemble at the clubhouse and jolly abandon in celebratory mood. Cold beer in the clubhouse and various meals at the ordered food bar provided sustenance for a long going evening. But furthermore there was one more highlight this day. Not without any reason several Nationals of Bandidos-Nation graced the chapter with their presence. Based on an intensive cultivation of contact between Chapter Regensburg with a scene-skilled group of Romania, which has sent representatives to this City-Run, this day has been decided to let them start as the first ones in Romania as a prospect-chapter. Celebratory framed they got handed over their colours. So there evidently were plenty of reasons to extend this evening to an open-end-party till the early morning hours.
As an indicator of successful activities can be rated the fact that not only several clubs and the common neighbourhood of the clubhouse gave us the compliment of their visit, but rather beyond this even numerous other average citizens found the way to our party. And last but not least as a delightful result of this City-Run 2011 Bandidos-Chapter Regensburg is able to contribute the sum of 1.500,- Euro towards the local preschool as a charity.
In the light of this year´s City-Run doubtlessly can be stated that Bandidos MC is a grave and not anymore ignorable part of the biker-culture in the region, its activities enrich the whole motorcycle-scene. So it only remains for us to add: “Many thanks to all participants – see you on the road!”
