Phuket Bike Week 2009

Phuket Thailand one of the main hubs of Asia and certainly one of the worlds most famous and beautiful holiday spots has been the host for Asia’s biggest bike event “Phuket Bike Week” for 15 years.

Similar to previous years, this year we would also take part in this event and visit our Brothers in Thailand and Asia. After a long 15 hours flight, we arrived in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport , where some of our brothers from Bangkok Eastend Chapter were already waiting for us. After a quick check in at the hotel and short cool off in the pool we met the rest of the brothers from Eastend Chapter in the restaurant of their clubhouse, just around the corner from the hotel. After a marvellous dinner we started our first wild party all together till the next early morning. On the second day we relaxed at the pool area of our hotel before we went back to the clubhouse in the evening, there we had another good reason for revelry, because our brothers from Krung Thep another one of our Bangkok chapters, were arriving for a visit.

On the third day of our journey, we left Bangkok after breakfast and went to Pattaya, to visit our chapter there. There we partied with our local brothers, some brothers from Eastend Chapter and some Australian brothers, who’ve been there on holiday as well, for the next two days.

On the fifth day we went back to Bangkok, as there was much to do before we started our ride to Phuket island, and so we checked our bikes together with our Thai brothers, relaxed at the hotel and in the bar area of the clubhouse, invested a lot of time in good talks and exchanged experiences with our brothers. We also visited our brothers from Krung Thep Chapter in their clubhouse and celebrated in different discos and Bars.

After one week of our trip, we finally embarked on our ride towards Phuket together with Eastend Chapter and our Hangarounds from Kampheang Phet. We left Bangkok very early in the morning before rush hour started. The weather was perfect and we had an awesome ride till we arrived in Surat Thani in the early evening. It was a hard and long day on the road but instead of going to bed, we had another big wild night in the bar of the hotel.

After a few hours of sleep and a solid breakfast as base for a new day, we got back on our bikes, caught up with our Hangaround Chapter from Chiang Mai, and rode the rest of the way to Phuket. A huge rain storm followed us the whole way and it took us a lot longer than originally planed, but we still had lots of fun on the road. Totally wet, we arrived in our hotel in Patong Beach, the biggest Party area of Phuket in the evening. Also our brothers from Singapore and Malaysia were arriving at the hotel with our new hangaround chapters, the Southland MG, from Indonesia. We all were very happy to see each other again and so we had good talks, and how else could it be but another big party the whole night. Some of us went to the numerous bars and discos in town, the others stayed in the hotel and made a disco out of their hotel rooms, wherever we were, there was a lot of fun around.

The next day was used for relaxing, for bike rides around the island, and some of us took the chance to go shopping, till everybody came together in the hotel lobby in the evening, because there was another important reason waiting for us to celebrate hard again. Finally our Hangaround Chapters from Chiang Mai and Kampheang Phet would receive their new status as Probationary Bandidos. It was exactly one year ago, as those two clubs started in the Red & Gold Nation. Last year at Phuket Bike Week 2008 they became official Hangarounds in the Bandido Nation and during the last 12 month they were really doing us proud in their position, so it was time to engage them as Bandidos into our Nation. After a great buffet dinner which was arranged for us, the ceremony started and the patches where handed out by high ranking Bandido members from Europe and Australia. Everybody was called by name on stage to pick up their new vests. What followed was another big night with everyone having a great time.

On the Saturday, we went to the event ground of the Phuket Bike Week and represented our club there, met other clubs from almost all over the world and had a good time together. In the evening, every club which attended the Bike Week was called on stage and got a small presentation from the organisers of the Bike Week. The night ended in some of the crowded discos and bars around the party place.

The next morning we checked out of the hotel and left Phuket again for another great day of riding. In the evening we arrived in Chumphon where we relaxed. The location was at a stunning restaurant on a large lake. It was a beautiful night with lots of good parley and a great atmosphere.

In the local TV they were reporting about a big revolution against the government in Bangkok. People where demonstrating and fighting, cars were burning and tourists were evacuated from their hotels. Tanks were already on the streets and the army was called to take care of the chaos situation. We were also already very close to Bangkok and we were not really sure what we had to expect on our arrival. We knew that the main roads were blocked by the army and that it’s going to be difficult to stay out of this civil war. But we trusted in the words of our Thai brothers, who were sure that we would make it back to the clubhouse safe. So we got back on bikes the next morning and rode further towards Bangkok and the chaos. As we neared the city limits we left the main highway and took the smaller roads till all of us arrived unharmed in the Eastend Clubhouse.

The last two days of our journey we used for relaxing, shopping and we had some pleasant last evenings together in the good company of our local brothers.

We want to congratulate our new Probationary Chapters Chiang Mai and Kampeang Phet again, for receiving their new status as Probationary chapters in our great Red & Gold Nation and we want to thank the whole Eastend Chapter which is Bandido Thoi 1%er, Bandido Ning 1%er, Bandido Nate 1%er, Bandido Tukk 1%er, Bandido Gob 1%er, Bandido Bum 1%er, Bandido Bin 1%er, Bandido Crispin 1%er and Bandido Boyd 1%er for the awesome and special way they hosted us during our whole trip and for another great ride through Thailand. Further we want to thank Bandidos MC Krung Thep and Bandidos MC Pattaya for the good times during our visits.
